Pitching Shines as Legends Outlast Dirty Birds 2–1

Charleston, WV - The Lexington Legends stayed strong Thursday night, riding a dominant pitching performance to a 2–1 victory over the Charleston Dirty Birds and pushing their record to 8–4. With the win, Lexington remains one game behind High Point in the South Division standings.
Starter Patrick Wicklander improved to a league best 3–0 on the year, striking out six over five innings while allowing just one run on four hits. The bullpen was nearly untouchable again, combining for four shutout innings — capped by Jonathan Haab, who recorded the final four outs to earn his first save. All together Lexington's arms notched 13 strikeouts, pushing their season total to 110.
Lexington plated both of its runs in the fourth inning, taking advantage of a leadoff walk by Brady Whalen who was driven in by Brian Fuentes, another walk by Colin Burgess to bring in Curtis Terry. Though the offense only managed six hits, Whalen reached base four times, and both he and Dylan Rocks each stole their third bases of the season.
Charleston starter Kyle McGowin (0–3) pitched well, striking out four and only allowing two hits, but took the loss allowing two runs. The Dirty Birds stranded eight runners on base in another frustrating night for their offense.
With the road trip now finished, the Legends will return to Lexington tomorrow, Friday, May 9th to host the Staten Island FerryHawks on First Responders Night, presented by Hicks & Funfsinn. All first responders will receive up to four complimentary tickets on May 9th by presenting their credentials at the Legends Ticket Office. The FerryHawks will still be in town the next night, May 10th, for Hit the Books Bookmark Redemption Night thanks to iHOP, followed by postgame fireworks. May 11th is Mothers Day at Legends Field, fans can call the Legends Group Sales Department at 859-422-7869 to book a special Mother's Day Brunch in the Lexington Lounge.
